FAQs

  • Both! While we were born as a directory for anyone who needs help in finding a Black-identifying therapist. I, Chicago Black Therapists' founder see clients under the CBT brand as a solo therapy private practice. The directory continues to live on as a resource and referral source.

  • No, they do not. Each therapist listed works at their own employer or business. The directory simplifies the process in finding a Black therapist by listing all in one place.

  • I accept self pay via credit card, debit card, FSA/HSA card, or cryptocurrency at $200 per 50 minute session. I do not offer sliding scale at this time.

Since I do not accept insurance, insurance companies consider Chicago Black Therapists / Cicely Green as an “out of network” provider.

If you are an Illinois resident, your insurance may have out of network benefits to reimburse you for sessions. You will be provided with a superbill at the end of each month that you can submit to your insurance company. Before scheduling a consultation or booking an appointment, it’s recommended to call the number on the back of your insurance card inquiring about your “out of network” psychotherapy benefits and learning about how to submit an out-of-network reimbursement claim.

You can also use your FSA/HSA (Health Savings Account) debit card to pay for psychotherapy sessions. You would input this debit card as your payment method within your client portal.

  • Insurance represents a system that does not value mental health care nor those who provide it. By not accepting insurance, there will be no oversight to your care from insurance corporations, which allows the therapeutic relationship to have more freedom and privacy. Please refer to our practice’s about us page to learn more about my decolonizing approach.
